The majority of our work is undertaken using either Python or MATLAB. While these are not the fastest possible solutions for numerical simulation, we find that we can easily generate results in a much faster time than using C, C++ or JAVA and of a performance that is in many cases comparable. These languages can be faster but only if they are written extremely well. Furthermore, the code required is frequently easier to maintain because it requires fewer lines to achieve the same result.
